"AMERICA-LATINA"
CASALÚ X GALA OCTUVRE

In a time that reduces us to abstractions, in collaboration with Casalú, we created something honest: La Guayabera. Worn by our abuelos, tíos, papás, and generations of Latin Americans who carried their homes on their backs.

NYC-based Puerto Rican photographer Andrea Surget captured hispanic immigrant faces and stories of in a "blurred/un-blurred" series. "The blurred faces throughout the series became a way of holding contradiction. They obscure identity while simultaneously universalizing it. The anonymity reflects the tension many Latin Americans and immigrants experience between visibility and erasure."
